Welcome to Dog Be Praised

It all started with Potter, a collie with problems; lots of problems. He had not had the necessary socialisation during his first 14 weeks and was fearful of everything. On top of all that he had the pain and discomfort of arthritis and hip dysplasia to contend with. He found the world a very difficult place to live in and initially I made a lot of mistakes.

He inspired me to start the journey into positive reinforcement training. To understand what motivates a dog into displaying behaviours that are not desirable in the human world, and how to change that motivation and consequently the behaviour.

Whereas traditional methods allow a dog to fail so you can correct him, using positive reinforcement training you learn how to set the dog up for success and how to reinforce that success so the desired behaviour is repeated. This makes the whole training process more enjoyable for you and your dog and builds an amazing bond between you.

I am a full member of the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers as both a trainer and behaviourist (IMDTB), the Pet Professional Guild BI and the UK Dog Behaviour and Trainer Charter. I have also studied with Centre of Applied Pet Ethology..

I continue to upgrade my skill set by attending as many courses, workshops and seminars as I can. My IMDTB membership requires me to complete 40 hours of continuing professional development each year.

But enough about me, check out the website to see how I can help you and your dog.
